Our Graduation, Summer travels, and The Upcoming Fall Module

Steve and Becky Damron May 20, 2026

On Tuesday, May 5, we had the privilege of celebrating with three graduates. One lady received a one-year Bible Certificate, and two men received Master’s diplomas. The two men who graduated with Master’s degrees shared testimonies during the graduation service. It was encouraging to hear how the seminary has helped deepen their understanding of the Scriptures and enabled them to recognize error in various religious philosophies. It is a blessing to be part of helping believers deepen their wells of biblical knowledge.

What was especially encouraging, however, was hearing how they are already putting what they have learned into practice. One of my great desires is not simply for students to gain head knowledge, but to follow the biblical principle of being able to “teach others also” by passing on sound doctrine to the next generation.

It was a special joy to have Dr. David Sorenson preach at our graduation service this year. Dr. Sorenson was a tremendous encouragement to me when we first began this ministry, and he immediately invested in the work by teaching one of our very first modules on The Art of Pastoring. He also played a part in helping shape the identity of the seminary itself by suggesting the name “Independent Baptist Seminary.” I was surprised to discover that no seminary was already using that name, and we remain grateful for his friendship, counsel, and continued influence on this ministry.

We would appreciate your prayers as we enter a busy summer travel season. Over the next couple of months, we will be traveling throughout the Midwest, meeting with pastors and speaking in a number of churches and ministry settings.

We are also looking forward to the fall semester. Once again, we will be offering live classes for those who would like to attend in person or join us remotely. Classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This semester, I will be teaching a course on the History of Fundamentalism, and Pastor Moore will be teaching a course on Apologetics, focusing on various cults and how to confront them biblically.

In addition, we will host a three-day module featuring Dr. Tom Knickerbocker, who will be teaching “A Biblical Design for Ministry.” The module will be held Tuesday, September 15, through Thursday, September 17, with classes each day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We break for lunch from noon until 1:00 p.m. We would love for you to join us for this special time of learning and fellowship.

Thank you again for your continued prayers and support for the ministry of Independent Baptist Seminary.

    In His Service,

    Steve Damron
