A seminary born out of the local church
Our story
Independent Baptist Seminary is a ministry of Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. It began in the fall of 2020 when Dr. Steve Damron, then a pastor at Fairhaven Baptist Church, founded the seminary to train men and women for the service of the Lord. In June 2022, the members of Capitol Baptist Church voted to receive IBS as one of their ministries, where it continues to train students for faithful service around the world.

IBS partners with like-minded institutes and churches to allow more flexibility in training students already established in ministry, family, and community — so theological education never has to pull a student away from the local church.

Dr. Steve Damron serves as the Director of Independent Baptist Seminary, a ministry of Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware. His desire is to train men and women to know the Scriptures, strengthen local churches, and equip faithful servants for lifelong ministry.

Dr. T. H. Moore
President, Independent Baptist Seminary Pastor, Capitol Baptist Church
Dr. T. H. Moore serves as the President of Independent Baptist Seminary and has faithfully pastored Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware, since January 2007. With a heart for expository preaching, biblical leadership, and training future servants of Christ, he has devoted his ministry to strengthening local churches through the faithful teaching of God's Word.
