Dr. T. H. Moore

Dr. T. H. Moore serves as the President of Independent Baptist Seminary and has faithfully pastored Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware, since January 2007. With a heart for expository preaching, biblical leadership, and training future servants of Christ, he has devoted his ministry to strengthening local churches through the faithful teaching of God's Word.
Pastor Moore and his wife, Debbie, were both gloriously saved on March 19, 1996, while attending Mainland Baptist Church in Absecon, New Jersey. As they grew in their walk with the Lord, they became actively involved in the ministries of the church. During those years, Pastor Moore served as a Sunday school teacher, bus ministry director, and deacon. It was through the faithful ministry of the local church that God called him into full-time Christian service.
Desiring to prepare for God's calling, Pastor Moore attended Northeast Baptist School of Theology in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Theology. Following graduation, he remained on the college staff for two years, serving first as Assistant Dean of Students and later as Dean of Students. In addition to mentoring students, he taught college courses and traveled extensively with the college music groups, representing the ministry in churches throughout the country.
While serving in pastoral ministry, Dr. Moore continued his graduate education and earned a Master of Ministry degree from Crown College. In recognition of his years of faithful pastoral leadership and service to local churches, Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, North Carolina, conferred upon him an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 2019.
In 2002, God led Pastor Moore to Grace Baptist Church in Oxford, Pennsylvania, where he faithfully served as pastor for five years. Then, in January 2007, the Lord directed him to become the pastor of Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware, where he continues to serve today.
Under Dr. Moore's leadership, Capitol Baptist Church has maintained a strong commitment to expository preaching, world evangelism, Christian education, and the training of future Christian leaders. Believing that theological education should remain closely connected to the ministry of the local church, he welcomed Independent Baptist Seminary as a ministry of Capitol Baptist Church in 2022. Since that time, he has faithfully served as President of the seminary, providing biblical oversight, encouragement, and leadership as students are prepared for effective ministry around the world.
Dr. Moore is widely respected for his instruction in biblical interpretation (hermeneutics), Baptist history, church planting, pastoral ministry, and the defense of the King James Bible. His passion is to help believers accurately interpret the Scriptures, understand their Baptist heritage, strengthen local churches, and confidently defend the faith. Whether preaching from the pulpit, teaching in the classroom, or mentoring pastors, his desire is to equip faithful servants who will rightly divide the Word of Truth and lead churches with biblical conviction and wisdom.
Those who know Dr. Moore best appreciate not only his commitment to biblical preaching, but also his heart for mentoring pastors and encouraging the next generation of faithful servants. His burden is to see local churches remain faithful to the Scriptures and to equip men and women who will serve Christ with conviction, humility, and a lifelong commitment to His Word.
Pastor and Mrs. Moore have been married for more than thirty-five years and have been blessed with three children. Together they continue to serve the Lord with a desire to glorify Christ by strengthening churches, encouraging pastors, and equipping future generations of faithful servants.
