Our President

Pastor T. H. Moore and his wife, Debbie, were both saved on March 19, 1996, at Mainland Baptist Church in Absecon, New Jersey. He served at Mainland Baptist as a Sunday school teacher, bus ministry director, and deacon. During this time, God called him to full-time ministry. He attended and graduated from Northeast Baptist School of Theology in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Theology. He served on the college staff for two years as the Assistant Dean of Students and the Dean of Students, teaching classes and traveling with the college music groups to represent the college. He went on to pastor Grace Baptist Church in Oxford, Pennsylvania, from 2002-2007 and earned his Master of Ministry degree from Crown College. Since January 2007, he has been the pastor of Capitol Baptist Church, and in 2019, he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, North Carolina. Pastor and Mrs. Moore have been married for thirty-five years and have three children.

Steve Damron was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 17, 1971. Steve had the privilege of being reared in a Christian home. His parents, Bill and Belinda Damron were members of Cleveland Baptist Church, whose pastor at that time was Roy Thompson. Steve came to know the Lord as his personal Savior at 8. All his life, thanks to the sacrifice of his parents, he had the opportunity to receive a Christian education at Heritage Christian School, a ministry of Cleveland Baptist Church. While there, he had many godly influences in his life who were constantly prodding him to do what was right.

Steve Damron attended Fairhaven Baptist College in the fall of 1989. Upon graduation, he became the junior high youth pastor and, a few years later, the senior high youth pastor. He was the youth pastor for Fairhaven Baptist Church for 20 years. During that time, he started Empowered Youth, a week-long meeting geared directly towards teens, TnT Saturday outreach, a ministry to help develop stronger teens reached through Sunday outreach, and special weekly meetings to encourage teens to be more dedicated to the service of the Lord.

In 1994, he married Becky Voegtlin. Her father started Fairhaven Baptist Church in 1970. Growing up at Fairhaven and in a pastor’s home had many benefits. She was able to attend a Christian school, learn to play the piano, and French Horn, help in the church office and church kitchen, and work with the teens as well. Steve and Becky met in college while working in the teen department. Steve and Becky have four children. Jennifer, Sabrina, Jake, and Clint. 

In 2011, the pastor and deacons approached Pastor Damron and asked him to pray about becoming the pastor of Fairhaven. After prayer and other Biblical considerations, the church voted that he become their future pastor in February 2012. 

In the fall of 2020, God led Steve to present the Independent Baptist Seminary ministry to Fairhaven Baptist Church members. They voted to launch the seminary that fall. In the spring of 2022, God led him to step down from pastoring and move to direct the seminary full-time. In God’s providence, Dr. T. H. Moore had been praying to lead someone to Capitol Baptist for that very purpose. In June of 2022, the members of Capitol Baptist Church voted to move the seminary under their church. 

Dr. Steve Damron has written a few books, and his wife has written a few gospel tracts. He has also produced several podcasts to encourage preachers, and church members in ministry and Baptistic thought. These items can be found at Baptistpulpit.com.
